DG BUREAU OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS MEETS TOP ISLAMIC GROUPS AND THEIR MEDIA AIDES AHEAD OF FORTHCOMING RAMADAN

The Director-General of the Niger State Bureau of Religious Affairs, Imam (Dr.) Umar Farooq Abdullahi, mpi, hosted a gathering today with leaders of prominent Islamic groups and their media aides in anticipation of the forthcoming Ramadan.

During the meeting, the Director-General articulated that the purpose of this assembly was to fortify unity and advance the progress of Islam during the holy month and beyond. He stressed the value of maintaining harmony among Islamic scholars and clerics and urged them to refrain from exchanges that might lead to misunderstandings or divisions, particularly during Ramadan.

He further advised that peace and unity should remain the guiding principles of religious engagement throughout the fasting period. He cautioned media aides against misrepresenting the teachings of scholars in a manner that could be perceived as attacks on others, asserting the worth of responsible and ethical reporting.

He encouraged Islamic scholars and clerics to adhere to recognized Tafsir teachings to nurture peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and unity within the Muslim community. He further mentioned that a monitoring committee will be established to ensure effectiveness.
