DIRECTOR GENERAL NIGER STATE BUREAU OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS ATTENDS WEST AFRICAN ISLAMIC CONFERENCE ON SECURITY AND GOVERNANCE AT ABUJA
Imam (Dr.) Umar Farooq Abdullahi, mpi, the Director-General of the Niger State Bureau of Religious Affairs, attended the West African Islamic Conference on Security and Governance, which took place at the ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja, Nigeria.
The conference, titled “The Role of Islamic Organizations in Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism in West Africa and the Sahara,” convened Islamic scholars, religious leaders, policymakers, and security experts from the region.
The event intended to explore faith-based strategies for advancing peace, tolerance, and effective governance throughout the subregion.
The participation of the Director-General signifies Niger State’s commitment to maintaining religious harmony, ethical governance, and regional cooperation in addressing security challenges.
He conveyed his appreciation to the organizers for their insight in hosting such a timely and impactful forum, stressing the value of ongoing dialogue between religious institutions and government bodies to counter extremist ideologies and promote a culture of peaceful coexistence and unity.
